Rosneft Creates Digital Information Models for Gas Fields

23 September 2025

Researchers at Rosneft's Ufa-based scientific institute have developed digital information models for ROSPAN INTERNATIONAL gas fields using the company's RN-KIN software platform.

The system consolidates data across all production, service, and community facilities into a single standardized framework.  Current coverage includes over 530 km of operational gas pipelines, 160 km of pipelines in the planning stage, more than 250 km of oil and condensate pipelines, roughly 300 km of high-voltage transmission lines, and over 50 well pads.

These digital models deliver solutions to multiple operational challenges. Primary applications include evaluating available infrastructure capacity, timing the rollout of new assets and efficiency improvements, and running hydraulic simulations for pipeline networks across different time frames.

Topographic features are embedded within the models, allowing specialists to compare site alternatives for future facilities while accounting for construction and development expenses upfront.

Digital information models are transforming how the company approaches design work, long-range planning, project performance reviews, and integrated modeling. Specifically, company specialists can now perform real-time calculations related to power systems, hydrocarbon gathering and treatment, and reservoir pressure maintenance.

For reference:

RN-KIN covers more than 1,000 oil and gas fields across Rosneft's portfolio, from Sakhalin and Eastern Siberia to the Timan-Pechora, Volga-Ural regions, and North Caucasus. This digital environment contains an extensive repository of historical data and operational analysis covering 175,000 wells. It represents a unique knowledge base for the development and operation of all reservoir types: carbonate, terrigenous, high-viscosity, low-permeability, oil, gas, gas condensate, and others, across varying degrees of geological complexity.
