Rosneft Organises Sports Tourism Competition in Irkutsk Region

07 October 2025

Rosneft organised a sports tourism competition on the shores of Lake Baikal. The event was attended by 108 oil workers from 18 teams representing the Company’s subsidiaries from various regions of Russia.

The competition took place at the Utulik recreation centre, which is a social facility owned by the Angarsk Petrochemical Company, (part of Rosneft oil refining and petrochemical complex). The oil workers competed in three disciplines: cross-country sprint orienteering, foot orienteering, and a control and tourist route.

The athletes completed a trim trail, carrying out various activities at each stage of the tourist route along the wooded shoreline of Lake Baikal. The competitors demonstrated their rafting skills by crossing suspension bridges, bumps, swaying logs and ascending and descending slopes. To successfully complete the route, participants also needed to have orienteering, rope knotting and first aid skills.

Professional referees assessed all stages of the competition and recorded the best times achieved by the teams. The Udmurtneft team won the competition, with the team from the Company’s research institute in Tomsk coming second and the RN-Vankor team coming third.

Competitions encourage healthy lifestyles and teamwork, and promote sports tourism. The Angarsk Petrochemical Company organised the event to a high standard and provided the athletes with all the necessary gear. As part of the cultural programme, the oil workers visited the sights of Baikalsk and took a trip to Lake Baikal, which is the deepest freshwater lake in the world. The evening programme featured an integral part of tourism, namely songs accompanied by the guitar.

Promotion of sports is one of the key priorities of the Company. The Energy of Life corporate programme unites over 128,000 Company employees. More than 92,000 people take part in a variety of sports competitions, including company-wide competitions and contests, as well as regional and national competitions.

The Company is carrying out extensive information and organisational work to develop a mass sports movement among its employees and engage them in a healthy lifestyle. Sports training is organised for employees. The number of oil workers actively involved in sport is increasing every year.
