Bashneft Invests More Than 4 Billion Rubles in Environment-Oriented Projects in H1 2025

11 August 2025

Bashneft (Rosneft subsidiary) invested nearly 4.1 billion roubles to environmental projects in the first half of 2025.

Environmental protection for future generations is one of Rosneft's key priorities. The company and its subsidiaries are committed to playing a leading role in minimising environmental impact, improving the sustainability level of the production, and preserving ecosystems.

One of the most important areas of Bashneft's environment-oriented activities is the restoration of forests. During the first half of the year, the company's employees planted 240,000 trees across 69 hectares in Bashkortostan, including 24,000 seedlings along the shores of Aslikul, the region's largest lake . Reforestation work will continue in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug in the second half of the year.

The biological wastewater treatment plants at the Ufa refinery group play a key role in the company's efforts to optimise water resource use. Between January and June, the wastewater treatment plants processed 11.7 million cubic metres of wastewater. In total, over 169 million cubic metres of wastewater have been treated in the seven years since the plants began operating. Biological waste treatment complex serves not only Bashneft's refineries, but also treat wastewater from 66 enterprises in Ufa's northern industrial zone and storm water runoff. The complex offers the highest level of treatment of industrial, storm and domestic wastewater, increasing the volume of reused water in technological processes by 2.5 times. As a result, the water quality meets the standards for fishery water bodies.

By the end of the first half of the year, Bashneft had also achieved 95.7% useful utilisation of associated gas in the main production region, the Republic of Bashkortostan. The company has also completed the modernisation of furnaces at two of its plants. The measures implemented will lead to a 1% reduction in atmospheric emissions per year.

Bashneft continues its active work to reduce the accumulation of oil-contaminated waste, in particular, at specialised sites using state-of-the-art technologies that have passed state environmental expert review. During the reporting period, approximately 50,000 tonnes of oil waste were processed.

For reference:

Bashneft is one of the oldest oil and gas enterprises in the country engaged in oil extraction and processing. The company's key assets are located in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Oil and gas exploration and production are also carried out in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra, Nenets Autonomous Area, Orenburg Region and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
