Rosneft's Tyumen-based research institute has developed a unique seismic-facial model of the Russkoye field. This model will enable more accurate identification of oil-saturated zones during well drilling.
The construction of the model involved a number of stages, including investigations into sedimentation conditions, an analysis of wave field characteristics based on seismic survey data, and an analysis of well data. The model was tested in 90 wells and proved to be highly effective.
T
his breakthrough provides a more detailed picture of the subsurface's geological structure. The new model has doubled the accuracy of identifying the formation top and increased the accuracy of identifying oil-saturated zones by a third. By incorporating the model into its drilling support strategy, the Company will be able to enhance well productivity and optimise the financial performance of the project to develop Russia's largest heavy oil field.
Technological potential development is one of the key items of the Rosneft 2030 Strategy. The Company pays utmost attention to innovation, recognising the technological leadership as an essential element for competitive performance on the oil market.
