Rosneft Classes students from Buzuluk, Sorochinsk and Buguruslan were recognised for their research projects at the National Research Projects Forum-Competition «School Premier League» in St. Petersburg.
The final of the Forum took place at the Empress Catherine II University of Mines, which was hosting the event under the auspices of the Russian Commission for UNESCO. The Forum aims to identify and support talented high school students in entering specialised universities that train professionals in the mineral resources sector.
Ilya Grabar, Yulia Mustaeva, Tatiana Plaksina and Alina Galieva — all students of the Rosneft classes — were among the winners of the competition. Ilya presented a project involving a mobile analyser for assessing the condition of drilling fluid during the drilling process. Its design incorporates a real-time purification system that removes metal particles, geological material and other impurities. Therefore, the mobile analyser will extend the lifespan of the equipment, ensuring safe and cost-effective drilling.
The competition experts showed a special interest in Alina Galieva’s project. The girl demonstrated the possibility of using self-healing overhead power lines using a self-constructed model. Thanks to the special fastening design (which does not involve rigidly fixing the wire and uses sliding suspension rollers), the wires are not damaged. This significantly increases the reliability and continuity of the power supply to wells. This innovation is particularly important for facilities located in wooded areas, where electrical wires are at high risk of damage from falling branches or trees.
Yulia Mustaeva presented her strategy for attracting and retaining young professionals, while Tatiana Plaksina showcased a facial recognition programme.
A total of more than 800 research papers from across the country were submitted for the competition’s selection stage. Fourteen Rosneft Classes students from the Orenburg region made it to the finals, with eight of them going on to win prizes. A total of 48 people won the contest in various categories this year, and 145 participants received prizes.
As part of the forum, Rosneft Classes students attended informative, interactive lectures and events with leading Russian scientists. The kids also attended tours of the Mining Museum and the Mining University laboratory.
The Rosneft 2030 Strategy includes the implementation of various projects in the field of education and development of the Company’s human resources potential. Orenburgneft, Rosneft upstream asset, has been overseeing profile classes in the Orenburg region for over a decade. The enterprise is systematically improving the material, technical and scientific-educational bases of schools and equipping them with modern computer and digital equipment. During interactive excursions, the enterprise’s specialists introduce students to the work of production sites and organise meetings with industry experts.
For reference:
The Empress Catherine II Saint Petersburg Mining University is a partner of Rosneft. The Company supports the university’s proposals for developing Russian engineering education. One result of the joint work was the inclusion of the «Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies» speciality group within higher education in the Russian Federation.
Orenburgneft, which is Rosneft’s key subsidiary in the Volga region, has been operating for over 60 years. The enterprise has a corporate system of continuous education, known as the «school-college/university-enterprise» model. Personnel training takes place in Rosneft Classes, which are operated in three schools across the region. Over the last eleven years, 587 students have graduated from the specialized classes and continued their education in the country’s leading universities, of which about 70% entered for the Company’s specialties.
