LLC RN-Purneftegaz, a Rosneft Group company, develops hydrocarbon fields in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.

The Purneftegaz Production Association was founded in 1986 to develop a group of oil and gas fields in the circumpolar zone of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. The settlement of Gubkinsky was built as a base settlement, mainly by the efforts of Purneftegaz, and in 1996 it received the status of a town. In 1995 the enterprise became a part of Rosneft.

The boundaries of RN-Purneftegaz operations extend 300 km from east to west and 210 km from north to south. The company operates in 16 license areas, which include 13 fields.

The fields under development are characterized by a high level of oil and gas content with alternating oil, oil and gas, gas and gas condensate accumulations.

Since its foundation, RN-Purneftegaz has produced more than 277 million tons of oil and gas condensate and over 130 billion m3 of gas. As of 2017, the level of useful utilization of associated petroleum gas is 99%.

In 1995, Purneftegaz became part of Rosneft.

In 1995, nine fields (Barsukovskoye, Verkhnepurpeyskoye, Zapadno-Purpeyskoye, Novopurpeyskoye, Komsomolskoye, Gubkinskoye, Severo-Tarasovskoye, Tarasovskoye, Ust-Kharampurskoye) were actively developed, and the Southern Dome of the Novopurpeyskoye field (East-Yangtinskaya structure) was discovered.

The 100 millionth ton of oil was produced in 1998.

The Yuzhno-Tarasovskoye field was discovered in 2000 and put into pilot operation in 2001.

Development of the Kynsko-Chaselsky license area began in 2003.

The 250 millionth ton of oil was produced in 2016.

Since 2017, active development of oil and gas deposits at the Tarasovskoye field in Achimov and Jurassic formations, which are categorized as tight deposits, has been underway. In 2017, 100 billion m3 of gas was produced.

In 2022, as a result of the geological exploration program, the reserves replacement indicator was 169%.

In 2023, pilot production began at the Yuzhno-Tarkosalinskoye field.
